We believe that being a family practice clinic is more about selling a product than it is medicine. The primary reason for this is we fully expect any medical office to give the best medical care that they can. In other words, one family practice physician should give the same medical care as the next. As a result, we believe that virtually every patient will ultimately receive the same type of care regardless of which doctor's office they go to.
So why does a patient pick one medical office over another? We believe that is boils down to service and the experience they have when they come to the office. It simply is good common sense. If there experience is a positive one, then they will return; if not, they will not return. The service begins the second they walk in the front door of Christian Family Medicine and ends only when they leave. One bad attitude of a staff member can change their entire perspective of our clinic.
A person rarely remembers where they encountered the best waiters they ever had but they typically remember where they encountered the bad ones.
It has been our belief from the beginning of our practice that the name, Christian Family Medicine, elicits an underlying sense of accountability. For this reason, our patients have come to expect a certain level of personal care. It is our goal to display an intentional caring, Christ-like attitude with every individual patient encounter.
We provide a “safe” environment for the people of Lauderdale County and the surrounding areas to bring their physical, emotional, and even spiritual concerns.
Because we believe that praying for someone is the ultimate act of truly caring for a person, each of our providers offers to pray with every patient that is seen at our practice. We also distribute free Bibles to anyone that desires one. Our staff minister is always here to provide pastoral counseling as needed as well. Furthermore, our licensed clinical social worker uses Christian counseling principles and ideals when meeting with his patients.
We feel that offering these Christ-centered services in a non-threatening manner has contributed to our popularity and overall success. We have had less than 100 people out of approximately 35,000 patient encounters refuse our offer for prayer. We actually have had several patients wait to be seen in our office, only to say that they came in to be prayed with. They had no medical issues whatsoever.
These intentionally Christian displays of service are how we meet the expectations revealed in our slogan: Bridging the gap between healthcare and truly caring. We do truly care for those we feel called here to serve.
Generally stated, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. For this reason, Christian Family Medicine, Inc. chooses to hire all of its providers as independent contractors. This allows us to inquire of one’s spiritual condition during the initial interview process.
The practitioner actually is considered self-employed, as opposed to an employee of the clinic. He or she would be subject to quarterly tax estimates as a self-employed person. Furthermore, the practitioner would be subject to paying the full 15% amount of his or her social security withholdings.
However, this financial difference is considered during initial contract negotiation. A full array of benefits is also negotiated during this initial contract time. Simply stated, other than paying one’s taxes quarterly, the provider will see little if any difference in this type of contracted status.
Christian Family Medicine opened in Ripley in May of 2004. Since that time the practice has grown to include over 9,800 individual patients. We were able to see over 18,500 patients in 2006.
Much of our success can be contributed to the fact that we started out as a walk-in clinic. The market dictated in the beginning of our practice that we would be a primarily walk-in facility. Unfortunately, there was nowhere for patients to be seen in Lauderdale County on the day that they were sick.
We still accept walk-ins and strive to help work those patients into our appointment schedule, but due to our rapid growth, we switched to an appointment-only clinic in October of 2007.
The other primary care offices in the area worked primarily on an appointment basis; many of them scheduled several weeks in advance. Knowing this, Christian Family Medicine opened its doors to the public in the spring of 2004, allowing the people of Lauderdale County and the surrounding areas to have a quality medical facility that serviced people when they needed it the most.
Christian Family Medicine is located on the major thoroughfare through Ripley, TN, Highway 51. Our current clinic facility is approximately 5,700 square feet and houses nine patient rooms and a full service retail pharmacy.
